We are the support staff union for the Grand Erie District School Board. We are the people who you see everyday doing repairs in your schools, or cleaning up the messes you leave behind throughout the course of the day.We see to the heating and mechanical needs of your schools and that they are safe and secure. We are the office and secretarial staff that looks after and maintains efficiency in the running of the schools and ensure that records are up to date. We are the Educational Assistants who look after the special needs students and programs. We are the technicians who look after the computers and programming needs of the systems and software for present and future courses. Whether it be Maintenance, Custodial, Secretarial, Clerical, Technical,Audio Visual, or a Educational Assistant, each plays a part in your education | |||||||||||||||||||||||

Local 5100 came to as the result of the Fewer School Boards Act passed by our Provincial Government. With this the newly formed District 23 (G.E.D.S.B.) there were different unions representing the same groups from the 3 former boards. Haldimand, Norfolk, and Brant. After the vote the Canadian Union of Public Employee's ( C.U.P.E. ) represented the Custodial / Maintenance grpoup, the Office / Clerical / Technical group , and the Educational Assistants. C.U.P.E. National gave us the number 5100 for our local and thus C.U.P.E. Local 5100 came into existance. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
